Abstract

  • In January 2021, Tanjungpandan City experienced an inflation of 1.03 percent with a CPI of 107.74. Of the 90 CPI cities, 75 experienced inflation and 15 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Mamuju at 1.43 percent with the CPI of 105.54 and the lowest occurred in Balikpapan and Ambon at 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Bau-Bau at 0.92 percent with the CPI at 103.86 and the lowest occurred in Pontianak at 0.01 percent with the CPI at 106.16.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in some of the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.29 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.06 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group of 1.31 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.05 percent; health group of 0.17 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.08 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.15 percent; and personal care and other services group of 0.81 percent. Some of the other expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely: the transportation group by 0.80 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 0.52 percent. Meanwhile, the education group did not change.
  • The calendar year inflation rate is 1.03 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2021 against January 2020) is 2.69 percent.
  • The energy group in January 2021 experienced inflation of 1.39 percent with the CPI of 102.59. Meanwhile, the foodstuff component in January 2021 experienced inflation of 2.98 percent with a CPI of 111.79.
